Description
The "Alte Bären" (Old Bear) was built at the end of the 18th century and shaped the baroque villagescape in the Gupfen district. It was demolished in 1963 to make way for the expansion of St. Gallerstrasse.
However, in Flawil's oldest district, the Gupfen district, another building of the same name has stood for over 106 years: the "Bären" house. It was preserved and lovingly renovated in 2023, thus bringing it back to life. The result is eight cozy studios and a place where genuine encounters are possible.
With the new name Casa Mia Flawil, a new era begins – supported by the association Mia – Humanity in Everyday Life . A Christian-social project that creates space for hospitality, community, and practical charity.
In the historic Gupfen district, the "Bären" house was completely renovated in 2023 and reopened as Casa Mia Flawil . Eight modern studios combine comfort with hospitality – supported by the Mia ( Humanity in Everyday Life ) association.
The studios are stylishly furnished, with Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast will be delivered to your room the evening before until Café Mercy opens in 2025.
The train station, shops, and restaurants are within walking distance, and parking is available upon reservation. Casa Mia Flawil combines tradition and modernity—a place where community and humanity are at the heart.
